Jean Pierre began to suffer the symptoms of his disease at the age of two.  This young child suffered from constant headaches and nausea.  Concerned about the symptoms of their child, his parents decided to take their son to his pediatrician immediately.  Doctors discovered that Jean suffered from craniopharyngiomas, a type of brain tumor that grows above the pituitary gland.

“When the doctor told us the diagnosis, he drew a picture of a brain.  Immediately, I began to cry because I knew that something was wrong,” said his mother, Cristina.  “He communicated to us that he found a mass in his brain and decided to refer Jean Pierre to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”

Before becoming a St. Jude patient, Jean Pierre underwent surgery to drain a cyst located around the tumor.  This brave child received radiation treatment at St. Jude for six weeks.

Jean Pierre will have to continue attending his medical appointments at St. Jude for three years.  After this time, he and his family will have to travel to Memphis for his check-ups every six months for the next six years.  He, as well as many children at St. Jude, needs your help to keep fighting childhood cancer.
